PARC AGM 2012

  1. Apologies

Apologies were received from Keith Foster, Mike Lawton, Pete Garrett, Dick Williams and Gordon Rogers.

In the absence if the Chairman, Keith Foster, it was decided that Andrew (MW0DDE) would chair the meeting and Bill (GW4JUW) would take the minutes.

  1. Minutes of previous meeting

Andrew read through the minutes of the 2011 AGM, which were also projected onto a screen using the club’s new digital projector.

  1. Matters arising from previous meeting

There were no matters arising, and acceptance of the minutes was proposed by Terry (GW0EZY) and seconded by Jean Brown (2W1CEZ). CARRIED.

  1. Chairman’s report/Secretary’s report

Andrew reported that the club had had a busy year with two club stations having been set up for special events and several formal speakers at club meetings. He emphasised that club was dependant upon its members and invited ideas for future activities.

Pat (XYL) proposed a vote of thanks to Andrew for his work during the previous year.

  1. Treasurer’s report

Bill delivered the financial report, saying that club’s cash had reduced by £65.70 to £1,831.73 which, considering what we had achieved throughout the year, was quite good. A full report is available <here>. Acceptance of the report was proposed by Mike (GW4DWX) and seconded by Dave (GW4NQJ). CARRIED.

  1. Social Secretary’s report

Chris reported that the club had enjoyed a meal out at the Bradford Arms in Llanymynech, and planned to organise a visit to the Vale of Rheidol Railway in the summer. She asked members to forward ideas for other meals/visits.

  1. Election of officers

Keith wanted to stand down as chairman, so Dave Brown was proposed by Chris and seconded by Mike (GW4DWX). There was a unanimous voted for Dave as the new chairman. CARRIED.

Terry (GW0EZY) proposed a vote of thanks to Keith for his work as chairman.

Both Andy (MW0DDE) and Bill (GW4JUW) were willing to stand as Secretary and Treasurer respectively, so they were proposed en bloc by Dave (G6DTN) and seconded by Richard (MW6RBH). CARRIED.

  1. Repeater report

Dave (GW4NQJ) gave a report on the GB3CW and GB3PW repeaters, a full account of which may be found <here>.

  1. Programme for 2012

Because of Andrew’s (MW0DDE) work in the past year, several meetings had been arranged for 2012.

It was suggested that we could have a video night, showing films available from the RSGB.

Those people wishing to partake of the PARC/SARS Bar-B-Que at the Sun Inn, Marton, should contact Alistair (M0UAL), QTHR.

Jean (2W1CEZ) suggested a talk by Eva Bredsdorf on Archaeology.

Hugh (M0DSZ) offered an archaeological walk in the Llanymynech area, and also a Sunday Garden Party.

Dave (GW4NQJ) suggested some club radio activity such as entering the Practical Wireless QRP contest.

Richard (MW6RBH) said that SARS could use some help with their VHF Field Day entry.

  1. Any other business

Andy (MW0DDE) confirmed that he now held the club licence GW4HVN, which would be available for events in which the club participated.

  1. Close meeting

The meeting close at about 8.45pm (although I forgot to check my watch), and members retired for tea, coffee and Jean (2W1CEZ) had made cakes and Bread Pudding for the occasion. Lovely!
